Tracey Murray

Tracey Murray | Senior Associate

Born and schooled locally, Tracey joined Shand Thomson in 1998. Her 20+ years history with the firm has seen her work in a senior capacity with Brian Dodds, both Jim & Susie Johnstone and latterly Bill Thomson. For many years a senior client manager, Tracey was appointed an Associate of Shand Thomson in 2016.

Tracey has expertise with DIY software, especially Xero and its many add-ons, and works with clients on all aspects of taxation and business valuation and planning. She specialises in taxation and is a member of two special interest taxation groups. Tracey leads our in-house technical training and is involved in developing system responses to new and changing legislation.

A great role model for our young people, Tracey completed her Bachelor of Business degree and post graduate studies in accountancy through the Open Polytechnic and has also attained CA status with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand - all achieved while working full time and raising her family.

Tracey is a strong supporter of community groups and is the treasurer of two local churches. She is also a board member of the Dunedin Diocesan Finance Committee and most recently joined the Board of Recovered Living NZ.

Tracey and Chris have three young children - Katie, Hannah and Logan - and when time permits the Murray family enjoy escaping to Te Anau. Tracey aspires to regular running as time allows and loves watching her children's weekend sports.
